yes, we have no tomatoes...

But we do have blossoms.

And one wee tiny green tomato.
Tomato sandwiches in a couple of weeks!

I see yours are in pots outside. You can't believe the amount of people here in Portland who are planting gardens in the parking strips of grass between the curbs and sidewalks. I've been spotting tomatoes and everything else sprouting in some of the most unusual places. Must go back to the Victory Gardens of WWII and the Great Depression days. If I had time I'd have one, too. There isn't anything tastier than homegrown tomatoes and I LOVE homecanned green beans...oh my!

Good thing I'm back to making bread! Big thick slices of juicy tomato can't be held in anything less! Store bread just cries.

It's all very exciting since I used a mix of heirloom seeds so I have no idea what's what. I'm really hoping there's going to be enough to start canning.
