Snow daze...

I don't mean to continue to whine about the weather...really not whining, merely pointing out that this isn't Normal. Though it may now be the New Normal.

The winters I lived in Minneapolis, this was nothing...and everyone knew how to function in it. The infrastructure was in place to clear the roads and snow all winter was simply a part of life. Not so here. Though I have to say that local government seems to be dealing with this month's storms way better and more efficient than the December storm. Yes, we are teachable! However, we still haven't managed to acquire a snow shovel. Maybe put that on the shopping list for this weekend? If anyone has them in stock.

Oh my, you know I am chuckling when anyone with mild snowy (warm) weather talks about their snow. You know we have 2 shovels and Little Buddy has one as well and 2 big bags of salt in the garage and boots and all that fun stuff. I do understand how stunned and disabled areas get when they receive weather that they are not used to though. Like LA and rain for example, hilarious :) Everything shuts down and accidents everywhere, people get into panic mode and are obsessed by the weather. Hey, reminds me, we had an earthquake here last night. Yup, in Chicagoland. Woke me up and had no idea what was going on. Now that could give the folks in LA a giggle, it was only a 3.8 :)

Thanks, Val! At least I was able to find the kiddos some decent snow gear back before this all happened--snow pants, bibs, boots. We get snow most winters...just usually only a few inches. Right now we're dealing with feet piled onto of feet. The "blizzard" today was only supposed to be sleet...no accumulation. And now there's another 5 inches out there! Schools were closed last week and parents were fuming saying they were being too cautious...then this morning they waited and waited and finally closed but only after buses were already running and kids had been dropped off. Now parents are pissed at the county.

I have a number of friends in the Chicago area and they've been talking about the earthquake. No matter how small it is, it's still scary!

Reminiscent of Matthew 24:7, isn't it? *ulp*

I know you don't want to hear this right now, but while it seems like the rest of the country is being dumped on, here in the Northwest the weather has been so unseasonably mild that some of the fruit trees are starting to bloom. Yes, in February. Too weird.

Yeah, Sooz, except there's always been famine...always been war...always been earthquakes...since the dawn of time and civilization. I'm actually gonna have to SEE the four horsemen to believe they're actually riding. In the mean time...I'm enjoying the fact that all everyone is tracking in to the house these days is wet snow and not mud, dirt and all manner of ick for me to clean up. It's the little things. :)

I was watching the news yesterday on the LACK of snow in Vancouver...you know, the site of the Winter Olympics! Wowie. Shift one little bitty gulf stream way up in the atmosphere and it's winter pandemonium!
