The one with the pictures...

The day started with birthday pancakes.  
And I've decided that on birthdays, everything gets candles...


Not only did he bake his own birthday cake, he also decorated it.  
I'm more than just a little proud...


The gift he'd asked for, but knew for sure we wouldn't let him have...a BB gun.
And careful instructions by one of our counties finest firearms instructors...


He was doing great!


Then it was time to bring out the weapons from a less civilized era...



Buckets full of sponge water "grenades"...



The "reload" station was a busy, popular spot.  
Even with the canine members of the family...


The birthday boy held the high ground for a while...aided by his sister...


And the picnic table was declared a Demilitarized Zone...
enforced by the Mommy to prevent soggy cake...


Even the threat of thunderstorms couldn't dampen the party spirit!
One delighted and contented brand new 8-year0old!
